Shannon Berry (4th grade) is joining us from Indiana, where she graduated from Indiana State University with a degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Language Arts. After graduation, she worked as a teaching assistant for a junior high learning disabled class. Shannon then traveled to California to teach 6th grade and 4th grade in the San Francisco Bay area where she implemented many different reading and writing strategies. Upon her return to Indiana, Shannon taught the 5th grade and co-coached the Destination Imagination team for her school. Her past experience in dance and drama made her a great fit as assistant to a high school show choir and preschool dance teacher. She has also enjoyed teaching a home school P.E. class for the last two years.

In her spare time, Shannon loves to cook, sew costumes and clothing, and spend time with her family. She also enjoys writing occasionally, whether she is creating personalized children's books or writing poetry. Shannon has five published poems and has received two Publisher's Choice Awards. She is happy to be close to family in Utah, and is excited to start a new year at Early Light Academy.
