Denise Mott (6th grade) is originally from Spokane, Washington, but currently resides in Lehi, Utah. After graduating from Brigham Young University in Elementary Education, Denise spent 16 months in Hong Kong volunteering. She has since taught elementary school—both public and private—in Provo; Alpine; and Mesa, Arizona. Recently, Denise earned a master’s degree in English Language Learning at Western Governors University. Denise believes the 6th grade year is an especially important one for students because it is a transitional time in their lives as they prepare to leave the elementary grades and enter middle school. Her desire and goal is to help each student become more independent, responsible, and self-reliant. She has learned that all students are very capable and can meet the high expectations that are placed upon them. She loves watching students grow in confidence as they work hard, accomplish goals, and experience success. Besides teaching academic subjects, Denise believes it is very important to model and teach citizenship, respect, and kindness. She loves learning and knows she will keep learning for the rest of her life. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys reading, playing softball and basketball, watching sports (especially BYU football), visiting with family and friends, and spending time with her two adorable poodles. Denise is looking forward to having a wonderful year with the 6th grade students and with all members of the community at Early Light Academy! |
