Sydney Young (Science) grew up in a log home nestled in the woods of Oregon. From a young age, her best pals were insects and plants, which set the stage for her later studies in entomology and botany. She double-majored in Conservation Biology and Biology Composite Teaching, and went on to complete a Master's degree in Science Education, with Botany as her specialty. Her experience in the scanning electron microscopy lab as an undergraduate and graduate student gave her an appreciation for the details of nature that usually go unnoticed by the naked eye.

Sydney has experience with children and adults of all ages in the education and customer service settings, recently finishing a 3-year journey managing the Child Center at Life Time Fitness in South Jordan. She is excited to get back to teaching science, which is her true love!

Sydney is a resident of Daybreak and is thrilled to be joining the team at Early Light Academy. She is married to John and together they have two boys, Thomas and James. As a family, they enjoy attending sporting events, collecting bugs, wandering the trails of Daybreak, going to movies, and hanging out with friends and extended family.
