Student Data Privacy Information
Early Light Academy participates in the Utah Student Data Privacy Alliance (USPA). The USPA is a collaboration of the Utah State Board of Education and Local Education Agencies that share common concerns around student privacy. The goal of the USPA is to set standards of both practice and expectations around student privacy such that all parties involved have a common understanding of expectations.
Student Records Notice
Each student’s records may be considered “no longer needed to provide educational services” and may be destroyed three years after the student completes or transfers from Early Light Academy or three years after the student turns 22 under the IDEA. Medicaid requires that records be maintained for at least five years after the provision of services.
ESSER III Funding
American Rescue Plan Act of 2021
Elementary & Secondary School Emergency Relief
Early Light Academy (ELA) will be using the ESSER III funds being awarded through the state in the following ways:
- 20%of the funds may be used to address student learning and accelerate student achievement to regain ground lost in learning.
- 80%of the funds may be used to upgrade wireless technology, technology devices, equipment, employment of additional staff and products and services to ensure the health and safety of students.
If you would like to provide any feedback on the plan for ELA, please feel free to contact our Executive Director, Stephanie Schmidt, at SSchmidt@EarlyLightAcademy.org.
Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act
Dear parents, teachers, and employees:
In 1986, Congress passed the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). AHERA is a provision of the Toxic Substances Control Act. It requires that local education agencies (LEA) such as Early Light Academy inspect for asbestos-containing building materials, prepare and maintain up-to-date AHERA Management Plans, and notify occupants of the plan on a yearly basis. All of this in an effort to prevent the exposure of asbestos to the occupants of our school buildings.
Our architects and builders have certified that no asbestos containing materials were used in the construction of Early Light Academy’s buildings; therefore, no asbestos containing materials were identified. We continue to be alert to ensure that suspected asbestos-containing materials do not pose a hazard to our students and staff.
Early Light Academy’s AHERA Management Plan is available for review in the main office and has been submitted to the Utah Department of Environmental Quality/Division of Air Quality.
